Karen Storm (Covert logistics officer, player)

When the portal storms struck (approx: 2002), Karen’s parents were living on a farm/community in northern Ontario, unlike most of earth’s population the Libre’s didn’t flee for the cities. Instead they armed themselves and managed to fight off the aliens. Karen, born a week before the 7-hour war (approx: 2004), grew up on what became a headquarters for a local resistance movement. Karen’s older brother (Carlos) raised her after their parents died in a zombie attack when she was a toddler. Karen is quiet, thoughtful, and intimately familiar with the use of most weapons. 

Michael Storm (Rebel leader)

Raised first fighting for human survival against sudden alien wildlife, and then against the organized Combine, Carlos dreams of helping humanity return to a peaceful existence such as he knew as a child (he was 10 during the portal storms). Highly protective of his little sister, the last child born at their camp before the combine suppression field came online, he has spent the last decade teaching her everything he knows about weapons, fighting, and the rebellion. Leader of the rebellion around City 7. 

Dr. Harold (Aperture Science scientist)

Tenured faculty at UofT in the 90’s, PhD in CompSci, Harold was always a bit eccentric. Worked in isolation, used to give lectures via video conference to combat his agoraphobia. Wizard with all computer systems, wrote a disk operating system for Aperture Science as an independent contractor while working on his PhD. Research focuses on machine learning.

Has been in hiding since the portal storms, suspected to be living in a highly secure, self sufficient, complex somewhere in the GTA.

Lieutenant Brant (Rebel commander of downtown forces)

Native Mohawk from a reserve on the border of US/CAN, was 12 years old during the portal storms. Fled with his family to New York city and witnessed the destruction of the UN by the Combine during the 7-hour war. After being processed and moved to City 7 by the combine, joined resistance, eventually meeting Michael and becoming in charge of downtown rebal forces
