‘City 7: Toronto Conflict’ is a video game modification (mod) based on the award winning and critically acclaimed Half-Life 2 (HL2) game. City 7 is based on an accurate (fictional future) virtual reproduction of Toronto and a fan based story line that complements the Half-life universe with unique game play and level design. Originally a prototype crafted by students at George Brown College, the project has developed a widespread fan-base in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and Half-Life 2 international community.
With a core of graduates (funded through sponsorship), current game design students, and volunteers, we plan to restore our original concept to continue the journey across Toronto. Players will explore new virtual areas of the city such as Front St, the CN tower and the P.A.T.H. (an underground series of malls and shopping centers located in heart of downtown Toronto). We also plan to enhance our current virtual areas, (Dundas square, Mel Lastman square, TTC subway system and the infamous Yonge St.), with improved graphics and new level design.
‘City 7: Toronto Conflict’ original fan-based story set in the not to distant future where an alien race known as the Combine have invaded Earth and taken control of every major city in the world. Karin Storm, a Canadian citizen, is taking refuge in rebel sanctuaries throughout City 7. Her brother is the leader of City 7 rebels. He has united citizens to overthrow the alien oppressors. Toronto Conflict starts with the rebel intelligence informing Karin that her brother has been captured during a vital mission and is being transported to the Combine processing plant. Karin needs to find a way downtown before the Combine assimilate her brother and jeopardize the rebels’ plans.
The mod will focus on Toronto’s role in this dystopian future. Our goal is not only to expand on new areas but also to introduce new characters, weapons, props, textures and enemies to battle. With your support, City 7: Toronto Conflict will be a unique mod that will inspire HL2 fans, gamers, Canadians and Torontonians.
